2/08/07
If you live in the Portland area, be sure to watch PDX49 from 5:00pm-8:00pm Thursday, Feb 8th as we will be the featured artists for "Music Week" on The Entertainment Zone. If you don't know, that basically means that there will be 5 or 6 bite-size segments of us talking and playing in between Simpsons episodes. Thank you very much Darcy & Chloe, it was a lot of fun! Also, we'll have new pics up in the next couple days from our recent show w/ The School of Rock.

10/17/06
Before iTunes there was EMUSIC. These are real MP3 files that can be played on any computer or device, not just Apple stuff. To download songs from The One That Got Away or Wrong Side Of The Tracks on EMUSIC, just click!

9/26/06
Sorry for the late update. If you live in Southern Oregon and are planning on going to the show this Saturday in Ashland, it's moved to Talent, Or. just a few miles down the road (as I understand). Details are on the "Shows" page as well as a bunch of new shows including this Friday in Eugene

6/28/06
If you want to find The One That Got Away or Wrong Side of the Tracks on iTunes, just click! Also, the "jukebox" down and to your right now has a new selection of live and unreleased material, so dig in.

5/10/06
If you haven't met him already, kindly look to your right in the flashing picture box and say "Hi" to Johnny B, our new bass player. He's 5 shows in and fits like a glove. Also thanks to Vanished Twin Photography for the new bio pic. Tons of new stuff on the shows page and plenty more to come.

3/15/06
Don't miss Howies' final show w/ us this Thusday March 23rd @ Dante's w/ Soledad Brothers and The Heartless Bastards! We fire things up at 9:30pm. You can get tickets at www.ticketswest.com or at (503) 224-TIXX. We'll miss ya, baby.
Also, The Rick Emerson Show is back on the Portland airwaves noon to 3:00pm weekdays on 970 AM, so if you're not already on board, here's your chance!

1/18/06
A quick thanks to Portland General Eclectic on KBOO 90.7fm for co-naming "Light's Just Right" & "True Vine" as the 14th best song (s) of 2005. It was freaky and flattering to see us higher on a list than Willie Nelson, Ween & Maceo Parker. Thanks again!

1/3/06
Recently we recorded a version of Social Distortions' "Don't Take Me For Granted" for Portlands' king of all media, Rick Emerson, and his now just released DVD "Bigger Than Jesus, The Diary Of A Rock 'n' Roll Fan." Listen to it here, and while you're there buy a DVD set, it's awesome.

Your pals need help! We just
placed in the top 10 out of 580 for the Chain Whipped
Magazines' Unsigned Band Contest, now it's up to the
people to decide who gets a bunch of new gear! Click
here
to go vote. It's set up pretty weird, my advice
for a non-infuriating voting experience is: 1) Push
the play button. 2) Click to the left between the
"RATE" arrows for a one star rating and to the right
for a five star (I'm sure you can figure out in
between). 3) Repeat. You can hit play before the
song is over to move on to the next, but I suggest you
rate it first, you must do all 10 for it to count.

10/6/05
Our new friend Bryan actually drew
these on cocktail napkins during a show @ The White
Eagle a couple weeks ago. No shit!

8/25/05
This Fri. Aug. 26th we'll be playing 3 sets @ The Portsmouth Club, so if North Portland's your turf you're in business. On Saturday we head a lot further north to say goodbye to the coolest bar your ass has ever been to, Maddogs' Stanwood Inn. This'll be the last show ever there, so we're stoked to be a part of it... Should be insane. Click here to see the schedule for the upcoming MusicfestNW, which we'll be taking part in on Sat. Sept. 10th.

7/23/05
Check out the new pics of us @ The Doghouse, Dante's, shooting guns near The Flying "M" Ranch and even a shot of the new van. Freakin' sweet!

-Paul

6/22/05
If you live in Portland and have Concast Cable, you can see an hours-worth of our cd release party from a couple weeks ago every Tuesday and Thursday @ 5:00pm on channel 11 through July! If you live in Milwaukie click here for a schedule, and Oregon City can click here, you want to look for "Milwaukies Best Music Vol. 6". Also, thanks to Sabala's Mt. Tabor, Williamette Week, Budwiser and everybody who came out to the show the other night, it was great.

-Paul

5/25/05
First of all, thanks to Brian Blair of The Oregon Music Guide for putting together the cancer benefit show we played in Salem last Sat., great show! And of course thanks to everyone else that we've worked w/ over the last month except for maybe the people in customs at the Canadian border.
But now, it's time to focus on what's really important... The release party for the new cd "Wrong Side of the Tracks" @ Dantes this Fri. May 27th! This night also features Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz as well as the return of The Flapjacks, so missing this would be pretty fucked up. Sat. May 28th will be the Eugene release of sorts as we rock the Wetlands w/ our pals The Koozies.

-Paul

3/25/05
It's official, release for the new cd, "Wrong Side Of The Tracks" is on Friday, May 27th, and the party's @ Dantes. It's sounding really good, so we're definately stoked. Don't miss Honky Tonk Tuesday (March 29th) @ Sabalas Mt. Tabor, we're playing w/ The Clementines and Fistfull Of Cash.

-Paul

2/28/05
See you @ The Devils Point Friday, March 4th when Mission 5 and yours truly make a big mess of the place. Did I mention it's my birthday?

-Paul

1/31/05
Yamhill, Or. will be the setting for shows on Feb. 4th & 5th as we're headed to The Flying 'M' Ranch for a weekend of rock-related debauchery and clean living gone wrong.
After that it's into the studio we go to lay down tracks for the new cd, which with all things allowing should be ready for release sometime in April. We'll keep you posted as stuff happens.

-Paul

12/01/04
Don't miss this Sat. Dec. 4th @ Beulahland (118 NE 28th, Portland, Or) as we bring w/ us our good friends Porphyria, and from Eugene, The Koozies. A must see!

11/29/04
Check out the new review from NW Radio here.

11/15/04
Vics... goddammit. Saying goodbye sucks but at least the final show was totally bitchin'! And you know it's a party when Jen Lane and the Barfly bus show up, too. In the basement we've been spending a lot of time working on new material lately, which is good, because it looks like we're going into the studio in Feb. to record the new cd. Can't wait.
There's some new shows up, and check out new pics from our first trip to Maddogs Hotel Tavern, in Stanwood, Wa.
-Paul

10/6/04
Sorry about any messages that didn't get posted. The board is fully operational again, so let 'er rip! (Unless you're from Paxil or the like, in which case I hope all your dicks explode from getting so big).

9/29/04
We've had a bunch of great shows the last few weeks, our thanks to Chris and everyone @ the Portsmouth Club, Johnny and the gang down @ Johnny B's in Medford (cool place!), Ray, KEXP and the rest of our friends @ the Shanty in Seattle, and the Musicfest NW people along w/ Slabtown here in Portland. Got a great review for the Musicfest, too. Check it out here.
This weekend Conans Pub (shows page has details) is hosting "Bands Against Bush" this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The very idea of George W. Bush getting re-elected sends shivers down my spine, and looking at recent polls it has become clear that everybodys' support is going to be absolutely necessary at every level if we're to keep that from happening. We'll be playing @ 9:30 sharp on Saturday, and would love to see everyone there.
Also, Sat. Oct. 9th we'll be doing an all-ages show in Hillsboro @ Four Seasons Bowl. Details as always are on the shows page, and yeah, you can bowl while you rock.

-Paul

8/23/04
Let me just start by saying thanks to Bob and Tami, Haymaker, and EVERYBODY else @ the Stanwood Hotel who completely blew our minds last week! This place is the coolest, and the best part is we're going back for a big show w/ Richmond Fontaine on Sat. Sept. 4th. Rock on, Stanwood!
For the 2nd year in a row we were auctioned off to Brendan & Christy White to play an annual block party to benefit the Providence Montessori School where Vinny and Lans' daughter Hazel attends. The party was on Sat. and the rain started coming down hard. Undaunted, our hosts put on an awesome display of perseverance, umbrellas were piled into forts, tarps and bungee chords were made into a makeshift pavillion and the party went on without a hitch. Kudos!
So what's coming up? This Sat. Aug. 28th it's "An Evening w/ The Dry County Crooks" as we play 3 sets @ our ol' stompin' grounds, Dr. Johns' Pub in Oregon City, and Sun. Aug. 29th it's "The Battle of the Bands" @ Meow Meow in SE Portland. The "Battle" is all-ages and starts @ 6:00pm, so if you're under 21 this is your big chance as we don't play all-ages shows that often. See ya there!

-Paul

8/12/04
Just got the news that we'll be playing the Musicfest NW on Sat. Sept. 11th @ Slabtown in NW Portland, more details to come! In the meantime, we've got a rocker weekend on our hands as we head up to Washington w/ stops in Olympia & Stanwood. Details for those and others are on the shows page. Check out the pics page for some new photos from recent shows @ The Devils' Point & Barracuda. Keep cool!

-Paul

6/17/04
So much to talk about but first things first, last night I got to witness my hometown heroes the Detroit Pistons close out the NBA finals by completely dismantling the evil L.A. Laker empire . I mean they killed them! Craig Kilborn just said that in a last ditch effort to get rings, Gary Payton and Karl Malone tried to work out a trade to Detroit at halftime. I love it!
But the party doesn't stop there, Happy birthdays to Howie and Vinny, and congratulations to our friends Chris & Lori Jo who just tied the knot last Saturday @ Hornings Hideout, where we were 1/3 the entertainment along w/ So Fine and Herkemer. That place is so cool!
Coming up on Thursday, June 24th is the funnest party your ass has ever been to, it's the Rick Emerson Listener Party V: What Happened to my Pants? @ Barracuda, 9 NW 2nd & Burnside, in Portland. This kicks off at 8:00pm sharp and features Storm & the Balls, the Tim Riley Factor and yours truly. We've been huge fans of Ricks show for years, and I've never missed a listener party, so I'm really stoked about this. If you've never listened, you're missing out on far and away the best radio show in town, shame on you.
Also, Fri, June 25th is an awesome country bill @ Duffs Garage, 1635 SE 7th, in Portland. We close it out after Matt Brown and Moonshine Hangover blow your minds! See you there!

-Paul

5/19/04
Things are going well, got some cool new songs. I love it when the newest stuff is the best stuff. Among the assload of gigs (check the shows page) coming up is a FREE 3 setter @ the Devils' Point on Fri. May 21st, tell a friend and we'll see you there!

-Paul

4/22/04

Check 1, 2... Check 1, 2... Here we go, introducing the new home site for the Dry County Crooks. First off, thanks to our old webmaster Patrick Maes for everything, it's very much appreciated. Second, thanks to Scott Chapin of Think Tank for kicking so much ass getting the new one up, wow.
Congrats to the Holy Hell Yeahs who through highly suspect behavior beat us in the "Maneuver in Vancouver" last Thursday, and big thanks to the Koozies for having us down to Luckeys in Eugene on Friday, real cool.
Sat. April 3rd we're playing Conans' Pub here in Portland w/ Herkemer, the Yawns & Glassine. You'd be very foolish to miss this one! Check the shows page for more, and be sure to sign up on the mailing list so we know who you are. Thanks for stoppin' by!
